The Guerriers Beyond Lifting youth team left Canada yesterday for Monterrey, Mexico to compete in the Christmas Cup. The competition, organized by the Weightlifting Association of the state of Nuevo Leon in conjunction with the State Institute of Physical Culture and Sports of Nuevo Leon, will take place on December 16, 17 and 18 at the facilities of the Weightlifting gymnasium of the Niño Héroes park.

Despite the fact that the team will represent Canada at this competition, the Canadian Weightlifting Federation did not manifest itself to support the initiative. In fact, it has been the club itself that has had to organize and fund the trip for the athletes and their parents.

The Guerriers Beyond Lifting club was invited by the weightlifting association of the state of Nuevo Leon A.C. to participate in the competition. The athletes who will compete are Sasha Millin, Daniela Millin, Emily Ibanez-Guerrero, Fiona Gervais, Ivy-Marie Buzinhani Brustello, Mirko Persico and Damien Persico. Ivy-Marie and Emily recently broke 5 Louis-cyr records at the Louis-Cyr tournament and are preparing for the 2023 youth world championship.

Brayan Ibanez-Guerrero is part of the team but will not compete as he is still recovering from an injury. The team is being coached by Abigail Guerrero and Ciro Ibanez.

The team made a stop in Cancún where coach Ibanez had prepared a boat trip during their 7 hour layover between flights to Monterrey.

L'équipe des jeunes du club Guerriers Beyond Lifting a quitté le Canada hier pour Monterrey, au Mexique, afin de participer à la Coupe de Noël . La compétition, organisée par l'Association d'haltérophilie de l'État de Nuevo Leon en collaboration avec l'Institut d'État de la culture physique et des sports de Nuevo Leon, aura lieu les 16, 17 et 18 décembre dans les installations du gymnase d'haltérophilie des Niño Héroes parc.

Malgré le fait que l'équipe représentera le Canada à cette compétition, la Fédération canadienne d'haltérophilie ne s'est pas manifestée pour appuyer l'initiative. En fait, c'est le club lui-même qui a dû organiser et financer le voyage des athlètes et de leurs parents.

Le club Guerriers Beyond Lifting a été invité par l'association d'haltérophilie de l'état de Nuevo Leon A.C. pour participer à la compétition. Les athlètes qui concourront sont Sasha Millin, Daniela Millin, Emily Ibanez-Guerrero, Fiona Gervais, Ivy-Marie Buzinhani Brustello, Mirko Persico et Damien Persico. Ivy-Marie et Emily ont récemment battu 5 records Louis-cyr à le tournoi Louis-Cyr et se préparent pour le championnat du monde jeunesse 2023.

Brayan Ibanez-Guerrero fait partie de l'équipe mais ne concourra pas car il se remet encore d'une blessure. L'équipe est coachée par Abigail Guerrero et Ciro Ibanez.

L'équipe a fait une escale à Cancún où l'entraîneur Ibanez avait préparé une excursion en bateau pendant leur escale de 7 heures entre les vols vers Monterrey.
