In our previous post, we announced the objectives for this Louis-Cyr Tournament/QC Junior Championship.

Today, we are pleased to reveal those who have been reached!
Ivy-Marie Buzinhani Brustello, 12 yo, is at her 38th competition with our club. She was eight (8) years old when she started weightlifting. In her very first competition, the CrossLifting Open 1, Ivy recorded a 10 kg snatch and a clean and jerk of 14 kg. She then weighed 21.20 kg.
Today, Ivy demonstrated her qualities as an athlete and registers her name among the holders of Louis- Cyr records for -45 kg cat. ! She broke three (3) records set by Camille Papineau 10 years ago: 46 kg in the snatch, 59 kg in the clean and jerk and 105 kg in total.
Ivy erased these records, registered 51 kg in the snatch, 61 kg in the clean and jerk and 112 kg in total and collected three (3) gold medals with her first place in the under 45 kg category!

She increases her personal bests in the snatch and clean and jerk by 1 kg for each and 2 kg in the total.

For Emily Ibanez-Guerrero, it was her 44th competition with our club. She affirms her supremacy among young and junior -55 kg by breaking two (2) records Louis- Cyr. Emily erased the Louis-Cyr records in the total that had been held by Tali Darsigny for 10 years (157 kg) and the clean and jerk (87.5 kg) which had been held by Annie Moniqui for 17 years with a total of 162 kg and a clean and jerk of 92 kg (new personal bests too). She also equaled the Louis-Cyr records in the snatch of Tali Darsigny at 70 kg.
With her total of 162 kg, Emily equals Marie-Pier Gendron's performance at the 2022 Canadian Senior National Championship for 7th place nationally in the under 55 kg category, at only 11 years old.

Ivy and Emily's next goal is the 2023 World Youth Championship.

The two brothers, Mirko Persico (9 years old) and Damien Persico (11 years old) continue their progress with our club. Mirko improves his snatch and total by 1 kg each (26 kg and 31 kg) and equals his best clean and jerk (31 kg) established during the performance circuit 2. He won three silver medals and finished second in the under 40 kg category.
Damien validated a 28 kg snatch and a 32 kg clean and jerk for first place in the under 40 kg category and three (3) gold medals.

In the -45 kg cat (men), Sasha Millin (12 years old), finished second with a gold medal in the snatch, and two silver medals in the clean and jerk and in total. With a snatch at 41 kg and a clean and jerk of 52 kg, Sasha misses first place by a tiny kilo.

His sister, Daniela Millin (9 years old), finishes the competition with three (3) gold medals in those under 40 kg (mini Louis-Cyr). She validates a snatch of 24 kg and a clean and jerk of 34 kg.

Our only junior athlete at the competition, Fiona Gervais (16) finished fourth in the -59 kg category . Fiona has been training in weightlifting with us for just under four (4) months. She improves her snatch by 3 kg (53 kg) and her clean and jerk by 7 kg (73 kg)!

Two of our young registered athletes fell ill a few days before the competition and unfortunately could not compete. We send our positive thoughts to Jayden and Nathan and wish them a good recovery.

These kids are trained by our coach, Abigail Guerrero, @coachabigail. It is she who, day after day, establishes the program and refines the technique of each athlete.

Abigail is also the latest in Athlete Weightlifting Program from Beyond Lifting.
