The Guerriers Beyond Lifting club recently sent several athletes to compete in the senior/master QC qualification competition, held to determine eligibility for national and international competitions. It was an exciting event, full of impressive displays of strength and skill from the athletes who participated.
One of the club's coaches, Temuera, was also present at the competition to undergo an evaluation for his weightlifting coach certification. Myriam was slated to be his athlete for the evaluation, but unfortunately, an injury prevented her from competing. Despite this setback, Myriam still contributed to the team's efforts by assisting Temuera with coaching and supporting her fellow athletes.
Daniel, Benoit, and Martin were the three athletes from the club who did compete, each in their respective weight categories. Daniel, who weighed 78 kg, competed in the -81 kg category and performed admirably, with a 70 kg snatch and an 88 kg clean and jerk for a total of 158 kg. Benoit, who weighed 72.80 kg, competed in the -73 kg category and also put up an impressive showing, with a 66 kg snatch and a 92 kg clean and jerk for a total of 158 kg.
Martin, who weighed 88.15 kg, competed in the -89 kg category and managed to lift an incredible 92 kg in the snatch and 113 kg in the clean and jerk for a total of 205 kg. He also attempted a 118 kg clean and jerk but unfortunately did not receive approval from the judges due to a press out.
Despite the achievements of the Guerriers Beyond Lifting club at the competition, there were also some setbacks. Temuera was unable to undergo his coach evaluation as planned because the FHQ (Fédération Haltérophile du Québec) refused to examine him due to having three athletes in the same session when only one athlete was required for the evaluation.
Thank you to coach Temuera and his athletes for their performance at the competition. We wish Myriam a fast recovery.
